Jennifer Barrett - Director of physical therapy/ owner MPT, CSCS, BASI certified Pilates instructor
Jennifer has been in the field of physical therapy for nearly 15 years. She graduated at the top of her class with a Masters in Physical Therapy from Chapman University where she acted as class president, a peer mentor, and an anatomy tutor. Jennifer is also a Certified Pilates Instructor and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She has worked at several renowned orthopedic and sports medicine clinics in both Northern Nevada and Orange County California. In 2009 she completed a year-long orthopedic manual therapy course. She specializes in sports medicine and post-surgical rehabilitation and emphasizes the biomechanics behind an injury. Jenn’s philosophy is centered upon providing the highest level of personalized care for each patient who walks through the door.
Grant Glass - Staff physical therapist MPT, CIMT, OCS, CAFS, GPS, 3DMAPS, Cert-DN
Grant has been a therapist in a number of different settings since graduating with his Masters in Physical Therapy from Western University over 14 years ago. Grant has specialized in orthopedics throughout his entire career. He has completed multiple certifications in different approaches to orthopedics. He is a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist through Great Lakes Seminars, and has a certification in Applied Functional Science from the Gray Institute. He is also a Nike Golf 360 Golf Performance Specialist. Currently, he is co-authoring a chapter in a physical therapy text book regarding the nutritional impact on the management of repetitive stress injuries. Grant’s approach as a therapist considers all neuromusculoskeletal aspects of dysfunction.
Nicole Lopes - Staff physical therapist PT, DPT, CAFS
Nicole graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Mount St. Mary's University in Los Angeles, CA, in 2013. She worked at an outpatient orthopedic clinic in the Bay Area for 2 years prior to moving to Reno and starting with Galena Sport in 2016. Through continuing education, Nicole has become certified in dry needling as well as Applied Functional Science (Gary Gray). She enjoys working with a wide variety of conditions and people, and believes in a whole body, functional approach to healing. Outside of work, Nicole enjoys cooking, hiking, traveling, watching the Warriors and Raiders, and playing with her dog.
Justine Anderson - Staff physical therapist PT, DPT, CSCS
Justine hails from Austin, Texas, where she graduated from the University of Texas with a B.S. in kinesiology. Craving mountains and cooler weather, she moved to Provo, Utah where she earned a doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. After graduating from PT school she worked as a travel physical therapist for a year and a half before deciding to settle down in Reno. As a travel PT, she was exposed to a variety of clinic environments across the country, providing a well-rounded foundation for her PT practice. She specializes in treating dizziness and vertigo with vestibular rehabilitation therapy as well as in fall prevention and balance training in older adults and in patients with Parkinson's Disease. In addition to her DPT degree, she is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and a certified yoga instructor since 2007. She loves to bring elements of yoga into her PT practice to provide a more holistic approach to rehabilitation. When she’s not at work she enjoys running, sailing and exploring the great outdoors with her husband, son and 2 crazy dogs.
Melissa Preece - Staff physical therapist PT, DPT
Melissa graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, TX in 2017. Being a Northern Nevada native, she knew that Reno was only place she would love to start the PT career. Melissa has obtained her Certifications in Trigger Point Dry Needling and Instrumental Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, which allow her to provide myofascial pain relief and proper muscle function. She has a passion in providing her patients with a combination of manual therapy along with specific exercise to allow for a full, functional recovery. When she is not being a PT she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing with her dogs, traveling, hiking, camping, playing soccer, craft projects, and having dance parties.
Austin Webster - Staff physical therapist PT, DPT
Born and raised locally, Austin is proud to call Reno his home. Austin completed his undergraduate work at the University of Nevada, Reno. At the end of 2017 he graduated with his doctorate in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University. His passion for health, fitness, and sports performance grew as a strength and conditioning trainer specializing in working with golfers. He has experience training athletes in various other sports as well as clientele seeking weight loss goals. He became certified through the Titleist Performance Institute and plans on continuing to get certified in K-Vest biofeedback technology in order to better equip him to advance patients’ abilities to return to golf and improve their game. Hiking, drawing, strength training, playing golf, and beach volleyball are some of his favorite pastimes. Austin is excited to join the team at Galena Sport Physical Therapy and specialize in orthopedics, helping each patient to attain and exceed their goals.
Nicole Harmon - Staff physical therapist PT, DPT, ATC
Nikki graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Ohio University in Athens, OH. As an athlete herself with an interest in the health field, she became a Certified Athletic Trainer before entering PT school. Along with working with athletes, Nikki is trained in dry needling, Graston soft-tissue instrument-assisted mobilization technique, McKenzie Part A, and LSVT BIG. An Ohio native, she came to Reno/Sparks as a travel Physical Therapist and quickly fell in love with both the area and people and decided to stay permanently. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, playing a variety of instruments, competing in ultimate frisbee, and spending time with friends.
Hayley Poland - Staff physical therapist PT, DPT
Hayley graduated from Emory & Henry College with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Born and raised in Richmond, VA, she has recently moved to Reno to experience the west coast. Hayley gained her passion for physical therapy from her love of sports, health, and previous experiences as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Her interests outside of the clinic include playing soccer, snowboarding, and hiking.
Emily Burns - Staff physical therapist PT, DPT
Emily is a native Nevadan, born and raised in the Reno area. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Community Health Sciences – Kinesiology. While at Nevada, she participated as a member of the Nevada Women’s Basketball Team and then went on to play for the USA All-Star Women’s Team in the 2015 Atlas Four National Women’s Basketball Tournament in China. Shortly after, she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of the Pacific. Emily has experience working with a variety of patient populations and enjoys treating patients from across the lifespan as each presents with an individual and unique set of challenges. She loves meeting new people and enjoys helping them accomplish their goals no matter how big or small. In her spare time, you can find Emily spending time outdoors, snowboarding, reading a book, or at a concert!
Jeanine Seewald - Staff physical therapist assistant PTA
Jeanine is our physical therapist assistant. She graduated with a Bachelors in Science from UNR, obtained her RYT yoga teacher certification, then went to San Juan Community College for an Associates degree to be a Physical Therapist Assistant. She continued her movement education in Pilates. She enjoys hiking, running, kayaking, skiing, snowshoeing and in general enjoying the great outdoors with her family and pups.
Odin McDunnderpants - Therapy dog
Odin is undoubtedly the most popular member of the staff. He is a youthful 15 year old Australian Shepard. In fact the vet thought he was 2, he’s in such good shape. Kasey has had him since a puppy and has done an impeccable job of training him as a therapy dog. Outside of sleeping his primary duties include: greeting patients, babysitting children while parents receive treatment, and putting a smile on everyone’s face. He also performs walker work with our elderly patients. He will walk alongside the patient offering encouragement as we get them up and moving around. Although it is rare, if a patient is allergic or frightened of dogs Odin takes his break in a separate room while they are present. He understands and takes no offense.
