The Many
Benefits of Physical Therapy

The month of October was National Physical Therapy Month and the importance of PT. Getting Physical Therapy is more important than ever right now. Here at Galena Sport, we are dedicated to getting you back to your everyday activities. Here are 5 benefits of Physical Therapy.

  • Maximize Your Movement

Physical therapists can identify, diagnose, and treat movement problems. Pain-free movement is crucial to your quality of life and we want you to return to your normal activities in as little pain as possible. Pictured below is Jeanine Seewald PTA, working on Grant Glass PT, MPT.

  • Avoid Surgery

Before you undergo expensive surgery, try physical therapy. Some conditions like meniscal tears, rotator cuff tears, and lower back conditions can be fully addressed by a physical therapist. With direct access to PT, you do not need a prescription from a healthcare professional to seek physical therapy. Pictured below is Jennifer Barrett PT, MPT working on her patient's left shoulder.

  • Improves Balance and Prevents Falls

Approximately 69 million Americans have experienced some form of vestibular dysfunction in their life.  Sadly, a majority of adults living with vestibular disorders go undiagnosed and untreated resulting in a diminished quality of life. Physical therapy can help mitigate these symptoms by training the brain to compensate for the vestibular issue. Pictured below is Justine Anderson PT, DPT, and her patient that suffered a stroke earlier this year working on his balance and dizziness.

  • Reduce Back or Neck Pain

With millions of Americans working from home amid the Covid Pandemic, many have settled into a sedentary lifestyle. As a result of this, back and neck pain is on the rise. This is why it is so important to have good posture while sitting and taking frequent breaks throughout your day to stand and stretch. This photo below shows correct desk ergonomics.

  • Recovery from Injury or Surgery

Patients who receive physical therapy following joint replacement surgery have been found to recover faster than those who do not. Our one-on-one manual therapy is designed to speed recovery to diminish pain. We work to address issues of scar tissue and fascial restrictions as we help you regain your strength and mobility after surgery.
