Summer Activities

Needing some activities to keep your body moving this summer? The team at Galena Sport Physical Therapy has you covered. Below are 4 of our favorite outdoor activities that keep us active during the summer months. 

Gardening- Gardening is a great summer activity for many. According to the CDC, gardening is considered exercise and uses every major muscle group in the body.  Fun fact: If you plant marigolds in with your veggies, it keeps the bugs away.

Hiking-  Hiking outdoors has many perks: nice views, fresh air, and it’s a great cardio workout. There are many trails around the Reno/Tahoe area that have great trails and stunning views. Here are some of our favorites: Hunter Creek Trail, Eagle Rock Trail in Homewood, Stateline Fire Lookout Trailhead, and DL Bliss Rubicon Trail. Cycling-
Cycling is a healthy, fun, and low-impact form of exercise for all ages. It’s a wonderful workout that keeps you active, and it can help shape a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally. Swimming- Swimming is a great activity for the whole body; it keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off your body, and it is a great cardiovascular activity.
