Who Can Benefit from Physical Therapy In 2023
Anyone can benefit from physical therapy. Physical Therapy helps people of all ages who have medical conditions, illnesses, or injuries that limit their regular ability to move and function. Who can benefit from these visits? Well, a bunch of people!
- Past Patients:
If you have been discharged from physical therapy in the past six months or longer, this is a great time to follow up with us. Our therapists can evaluate your previous injury and make sure everything is still on the right track, and you don't have any further pain. They can also go over your HEP with you to see if it needs to be updated to fit your current needs.
- Patients Considering Surgery:
While surgery is sometimes the only way to treat a physical condition, the more conservative approach is to first try physical therapy. If physical therapy eliminates your pain or helps you heal from injury, there may be no need for surgery. If you do need to undergo surgery, pre-surgical physical therapy can often put you into better physical condition to withstand the surgery, and provide a better recovery outcome.
Physical therapy works to assist an athlete to rebuild strength and movement after an injury through different exercises, stretches, and specialized techniques. It can also help an athlete manage pain and prevent avoidable damage in the future.
Physical therapy can help seniors maintain independence by improving muscle strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility.
